Hubo un tiempo cuando recomendaba a mis alumnos que solo usaran dos fuentes para sus sitios Web, a pesar de la gran variedad de fuentes disponibles en las computadoras de los usuarios, las dos que siempre recomendaba eran Verdana o Times New Roman.

Times New Roman fue creada específicamente para el periódico londinense el Times en 1931 y Verdana que fuese la primera fuente creada para uso específico en la Pantalla por Microsoft 1996, que por cierto quizás sea lo único bueno que ha hecho Microsoft en su historia…

La gran ventaja de usar cualesquiera de estas dos fuentes, era que podías estar seguro que tendrías un completo control de tu layout, esto era particularmente importante si estabas trabajando con divs en posiciones absolutas.

Poco a poco fui expandiendo mis recomendaciones a otras fuentes que me parecían podían estar en ambas plataformas (Mac y Windows), hace poco New Riders me envió una copia del libro Fluid Web Typography, y quisiera compartir con ustedes la lista de 68 fuentes seguras para la Web que el autor menciona en su libro.
